Restive Plaggona - Leaving The Body
There still might be a place for us somewhere - Charles Bukowski
There still might be a place for us somewhere - Charles Bukowski Restive Plaggona is the music project of the Corfu-based artist Dimitris Doukas –also producing under Matriarchy Roots, Leftina Osha and Plaggona-. After releasing a series of cassettes in different labels along 2016 and 2017 –including his own Several Minor Promises- “Leaving The Body” arrives as an electronic composition of beats and synthesizer bodies disguised as a sense of provocation and mystery. Each of the seven pieces offers more than a smattering of interesting textures separated by spans of great decline, but a master class of permutations in-between accompanying sounds, stretching rhythms and viscera-and-violence noises. Driven by a deeply expressive narrative, Restive Plaggona makes a strong statement about his post-industrial vision adding technoid inclinations in a delightful dystopian world. Black Swords - The Future Of The Sun
“In this apparatus all limitations as to electric force and the quantity of electricity transmitted have been removed” - Nikola Tesla
Moving around a particularly powerful blend of noise, technoid rhythms, synths and sparse vocals that is always kept in a state of high tension, “The Future Of The Sun” presents two pieces that project the listener into a frenetic urban journey. Black Swords is the result of a spellbinding collision between Black Rain and Brussels-based industrial enfant-terribles Orphan Swords. In late 2013, Orphan Swords sent an email to Ike Yard proposing a vocal featuring for their track Vassago. That track - later featuring a vocal part written and recorded by Ike Yard - was released by Desire Records on the “Risk In a New Age” EP (2014). It was the beginning of a long term collaboration between NYC-based Black Rain and the Orphan Swords, from Brussels. Later on, Orphan Swords was invited by Desire to remix an Ike Yard track for a compilation around the reissue of their 1983 classic album “A Second”. Orphan Swords then invited Black Rain to remix Asmoday from their EP “License To Desire”. Black Rain is BR Argabright’s project with Shinichi Shimokawa - rebooted in 2012 on Blackest ever Black. The three musicians connected quite well and became good friends over time, not merely sharing interest in music but also in the arts in general and the philosophies that relate to them. In april 2016, after Black Rain performed at Rewire Festival with Pete Swanson and Vessel, they spent a night in Brussels at Orphan Swords’ HQ “New Terminal Studios” and recorded hours of music in the most spontaneous and direct fashion. This raw material has then been simmered within the following weeks. The two tracks that figure on “The Future Of The Sun” EP are the pith and marrow of what occurred that night. Zosima - The Brighter The Light, The Darker The Shadow
The part of unconscious that contains memories and ideas that were inherited from ancestors. A deduction from the alleged ubiquity of archetypes over space and time. Being unconscious. A self-destruction exercise. Deductions by examining behavior, images, art, myths, religions and/or dreams. Inherited potentials which are actualized when they enter consciousness as images or manifest in behavior on the interaction with the outside world. A self-reflection exercise. Autonomous entities and hidden forms which are transformed once they enter consciousness and are given particular expression by individuals and their cultures. Zanias - To The Core
Nothing lasts but nothing is lost – Terence McKenna
First solo EP by Zanias after her Keluar and Linea Aspera projects. This evolution culminates in a mature but radical project. Radicalism has never relied completely on the means to deliver it. It also requires a relationship to society, to culture, at any given time. A solid background must be included in the formula as well. Once certain stability is reached, there is no other way more than taking additional risks in order to produce new work of interest. Finding different mechanisms to corrupt the methodical linearity that underlies artistic production. Corrupting means finding possibilities to create an accident, possibilities to contradict; to prove anomalies within the frame of reference of that new thought is actually possible. Written and produced by Alison Lewis and Alex Akers in Australia at the beginning of 2016. Mastered and cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering. Photography by Catherine Yule. Design and edition by Zosima.

Kareem presents Ligeia / Huren presents MRTVI - le 17 janvier Los Angeles, USA
The fear of death follows from the fear of live. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time - Mark Twain
Music is about discourse: it’s about ideas, about the intellectual project. Anyone can build a “beat”, but not everybody can produce an interesting argument for it. This implies the idea of romanticism as a notion of tradition and respect for certain rules. Romanticism understood as virtuosity in the manipulation of art production tools. Virtuosi of their own methodology. Certain pedigree of virtuosity is definitely needed…but in many regards it also remains an extremely conventional formalism, which is at the core of every artist. It doesn’t matter if you have to piss around in the subterranean electronic music trenches for over two decades. A true pioneer simply has to live with that sort of dichotomy. Here there are two good examples. Mastering & Cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering. Artwork & Design by Zosima

Zosima / OAKE rmxs - Metamorphosis
I cannot make you understand. I cannot make anyone understand what is happening inside me. I cannot even explain it to myself – Franz Kafka, 1915.
What we know as avant-garde seems to look back every time more to the past. An aim of finding new reinterpretations produces deeper and deeper researches into the most primary roots of electronic music, but actually that conflict between old and new is gone. Then, what does it mean a radical idea versus the image of a radical idea? Whether something is genuinely radical is so only if it hasn’t been done, or is difficult to do, or the results are uncertain, which is different from reproducing years later what the discipline learned to do in former times. The struggle to implement and to understand new work, as a valued act of conduct is very different from repeating a learned image. This dichotomy founded the basics of Zosima's original tracks. The sequence continues with two OAKE's remixes and it is closed by a narrative of divine ectasy. A monstrous sensuality, that takes you to the end without noticing it. "Metamorphosis" shows the birth, life and death of a musical body. Mastering & cut by Alain Paul at Calyx Design & edition by Zosima

ONTAL - Pietà
“Nothing remains but to hope the end will come to extinguish the unrelenting pain of waiting for it” – Pier Paolo Pasolini
Ontal´s work excites many conflicting emotions. Exuberant, convoluted and theatrical plots define the watchwords attached to the Serbian duo. They represent one of the most paradigmatic examples of how industrial/techno can still offer a wide range of pleasant surprises. A visceral understanding of the scenic rhythm space vs. void establishes a metamorphic composition in short of an almost Baroque sensitivity. Always moving around an unstable fringe of intuition-rules-over-eclecticism, together with an attitude of total irreverence against the old aphorism, but keeping at the same time an incredible discipline of sophistication, produce a situation where anything touched by them have to be immediately placed at the top of the evolution line of the electronic music. “Pietà” simply shows this feeling at their best. DAMASKIN - Ancient Communications
“Anti-social behaviour is a trait of intelligence in a world of conformists” - N. Tesla
Under a permanent commitment of self-challenge and a continuous attitude of nonconformity against the banal, Damaskin presents two of his multiple faces under a single pack. Bucolic and grotesque tendencies meet aggressiveness in order to melt in a disparity conversation within the unconventional. Framed as a story, "Propaganda" and "Entrance" define the protocol of a progressive formalism only interrupted by the massiveness of the overwhelmed "Ancient Communications" and "Catacomb". ZOSIMA - A Lady From Siberia / Kareem Remix
The Vienna based imprint Noiztank delivers the second statement of his design sound-manifesto. Label head Zosima supplies three original tracks accompanied by a remix of industrial-esque pioneer Kareem of Zhark Recordings. “A Lady From Siberia“ moves around the cutting-edge agenda of current techno aesthetics. Driven by an aura of melancholy and depression, only fragments of drama and uncontrolled violence break the stimulus of chaotic stubbornness. Subliminal strokes of Situationist Derive and early Russian Realism are decoded in a message of multidirectional sequences, vocals and noisy atmospheric lines. Not easy to understand, nor to listen to, but personal tastes are nothing else than an oppressed satire. Mastering & Cut by Alain Paul at Calyx Mastering. Artwork by Zosima

HUREN

ϟ/HUREN/ϟ/ is a solo project of David Foster, one half of the legendary Canadian techno project Teste. Pissing around in the Subterranean electronic music trenches for over two decades, /ϟ/HUREN/ϟ/ output ranges from dark minimal techno, rhythmic noise, and harsh industrial. Current /ϟ/HUREN/ϟ/ operations are characterized as low-rent IMPURE FUCKING $CUMTRONIC$. CONFLICT + NIHILI$M + CATHAR$I$

KAREEM

Founder of Zhark Recordings Berlin, has been presenting heavy armoured track material for 2 decades with numerous releases. His definition of the Zharkesthetic lies in conveying a claustrophobic state and an atmosphere of threatening sound architecture. His Live Sets are a 2-3 hour tour de force of percussive hostility with relentless precision unifying all the core elements of his approach.

OAKE

OAKE is emerging Berlin duo Eric Goldstein and Konstanze Bathseba Zippora, who together alchemize their own variant of dark, atmospheric techno inspired by British post-Industrial acts and the occult. OAKE’s ominous, decaying soundscapes are cut through with stuttering, hypnotic percussion and sibylline vocals. Their debut EP Offenbarung was released on Downwards in April 2013 and followed later that year was a second 12" Vollstreckung. In December 2014, the duo unleashed their first full length LP Auferstehung ("resurrection") on Downwards. Auferstehung has been received as a grand and mysterious work of art, despite working in an industrial lineage, it also "recalls the ethereal beauty of Cocteau Twins or Julee Cruise's work for David Lynch much thanks to Bathseba's otherworldly vocals, resulting in a dense, atmospheric album of real cinematic tension, one that leaves you painting the scenery in your mind (RA review).”

ONTAL

Ontal is an industrial/noise/experimental techno project consisted of Boris Noiz and Darko Dekode who are both based from Subotica, Serbia. Formed in November 2011 and influenced by numerous music genres, their sound could be described as uncompromising, hard and intense.

RESTIVE PLAGGONA

Restive Plaggona is the music project of the Corfu-based artist Dimitris Doukas –also producing under Matriarchy Roots, Leftina Osha and Plaggona-.

ZANIAS

Zoe Zanias, currently based in Berlin, is known as the voice of darkwave bands Linea Aspera and Keluar, and now performs solo under the name Zanias. Born in Australia, raised in South-East Asia and educated in archaeology in London, Zanias channels her unusual life history and interests into music that acts as her own personal experimental analysis of the mind, and provides the perfect method of sharing the fundamental struggle of being born sentient, self-aware, and imperfect products of biological evolution.

ZOSIMA

Zosima is the final product of a musical immersion that has been moving around the electronics since the late 90s. A non-always-logical evolution has produced a riotous musical personality. The most underground faces of techno define the preliminary basics of his distorted message. Always moving around the fringe of speculation. Constantly looking for new ways of developing techno aesthetics. He is the founder of Noiztank.

ABOUT Vienna based electronic music label. Noiztank is the platform for uncompromising artists, who dictate their own rules and move away from the (pre)established standards. Music is understood as one of the highest ways of expression and communication. A tool for changes. Techno is the channel that operates as an autonomous discipline within the electronic music and in such a way, it is able to evolve under their own principles. Techno is an entity of complexity ruled by self(dis)organized processes. Grotesque, provocative, indefinable, violent. Music capable of accommodating the unpredictable.
